Aims
The module provides students with an introduction to a range of ideas that have had an influence on educational practice. It further considers how concepts concerning human nature and experience has shaped educational provision and learning environments.

Outline Syllabus:Key thinkers and ideas in the development of philosophies of education, philosophy, education and the global South, educational ideas and educational practice; philosophy, teaching and learning; curriculum and the content of schooling; human nature and educational practice.

This module provides you with an introduction to a range of ideas that have had an influence on educational practice. It further considers how concepts concerning human nature and experience have shaped educational provision and learning environments.

Additional Information:The module complements learning across Level 4 in that it offers students an opportunity to explore a range of ideas that have influenced historic, current and emerging educational practice. Formative assessment tasks will culminate in an annotated bibliography that will be used to support a narrated presentation. In reflecting on their own experiences, students will be encouraged to consider how philosophical ideas about education may influence other learner’s educational experiences.
