Aims
To offer students the opportunity to explore a range of non-verbal aspects of performance text and their place in the creative and interpretive process.
To introduce and examine models of analysis which articulate the non-verbal aspects of performance.
To introduce students to a range of examples of historical and contemporary practice where non-verbal text is the predominant mode of signification.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Through a series of workshops, students will explore the significance of non-verbal text in both creative and interpretive processes.
Workshops may include lecture material and seminar discussion as appropriate introducing students to examples of work and key practitioners as well as models of analysis for totality of performance. In class presentations and short written tasks will offer opportunities for students to apply frameworks for analysis and receive formative feedback prior to the summative assessment.

Much of the work is practical and students should wear appropriate clothing and footwear as directed by the tutor.
