Aims

This module is designed to introduce students to various theories of management and how they have developed. It will highlight various challenges faced by business managers in the 21st century including the various concepts, tools and models used to overcome them. It also aim to help student understand the need to develop personal management capability.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Evaluate the need to apply a range of management styles and how management style can influence managerial behaviour.
2.
Evaluate the different forms of business and organisational structure in terms of the nature, characteristics, and any perceived benefits.
3.
Demonstrate how organisational and individual behaviour affects individuals and teams and explain how the environment impact on a business.
4.
Assess, evaluate and plan the resources for personal professional development
5.
Debate the leadership skills required to facilitate team involvement and meet organisation's objectives as well as understanding ethical and value-based approach to leadership.

Additional Information:This module will be delivered on three fronts: lecture, workshop and seminars. This is to ensure a right balance between the cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning objective.
