Aims
To introduce students to a range of models of analysing theatre texts, both as script and performance;
To provide opportunities for students to assess and develop their skill in writing and presenting academic papers/essays.
Learning Outcomes

Objectively analyse a performance within a clear critical framework;
2.
Present a written analysis to appropriate standards of academic writing and presentation.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Students will be offered several models and contexts of theatre and performance analysis and critical frameworks. Seminars will examine these in order to develop a vocabulary of critique as well as a working tool for rehearsal/production. (e.g. Stanislavskian analysis of text, Pavis’ model of performance analysis, basis of reception theory, socio-cultural commentary, journalistic review, etc.)

Additional Information:A year-long skills development module which is practically based, emphasising developing process and building vocabularies and skills rather than performance
