To explore the aetiology of a variety of common conditions, injuries and illnesses, form a diagnosis and provide correct treatment.

  • Clinical features of common conditions & illnesses (minor injuries)
  • Acute Coronary Syndrome (12 lead ECG)
  • Palliative and end of life care
  • Medical terminology
  • Scientific units of measurement in healthcare
  • Forming a diagnosis & treatment
  • Differential diagnosis
  • Legal and ethical issues
  • Scene safety & forensic awareness
  • Capacity to consent
  • Core drugs & patient group directives

Module Overview:
This module provides you with a theoretical base to understand the aetiology of a variety of common conditions and illnesses across all age ranges.
Additional Information:
This course provides a theoretical base for the students' to understand the aetiology of a variety of common conditions and illnesses across all age ranges. Developing the ability to differentially and specifically diagnose an array of conditions and then to provide correct treatment.

The module is run over Semester 1 and Semester 2 during the academic year and links to the two practice modules, the first in Semester 1 and the other in Semester 2, in terms of supporting educational material.
