Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The module will enhance your theoretical and practical knowledge of contrasting styles across a variety of texts, integrating acting, movement and voice skills. You will investigate the contextual impact of chosen works, identifying contemporary interpretations of historical or traditional works.
In the first part of this module, your ability to integrate psychological acting, voice and movement approaches will be tested in a series of formative Mock Audition workshops. You will reflect and develop on this experience, as they culminate in a summative Audition before a professional panellist and assessor, testing your communication and presentation skills, in addition to your acting, forming 20% of the overall assessment. This will improve your interview skills and ability to manage audition scenarios.
In the second part of the module, you will enhance your knowledge of additional acting styles and approaches, in a variety of works from different historical, cultural and international styles. This part of the module expands your understanding and knowledge of the craft, whilst also providing the opportunity to engage technically with differing modes of acting. You are tested in a scene study according to a particular style, expected to research the contextual aspects of this work and apply learned acting and story-telling techniques. This generates a broader knowledge and understanding of works, contributing to your engagement with differing acting styles in an audition context, fulfilling 80% of the overall module grade.
