Aims

The module will provide students with the opportunity to understand contemporary issues in security and policing.

Learning Outcomes

Identify contemporary themes in security and policing.

Identify how theory can help explain crime.

Understand the challenges to mainstream security and policing.

Develop the ability to express key ideas about security and policing in written form.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Policing and the Police; Vulnerability, Drugs and Mental Health; Governance and Accountability; Ethics and Police Culture, Firearms and Crisis Management The police and the media.
Additional Information:The multi-disciplinary syllabus and assessment tasks will enable students to acquire skills needed for successful transition into level 4 and completion of the degree.
