Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The course will encourage an understanding of social, cultural and historical factors, which underpin all visual arts theory and practice. Students will develop their academic research, referencing and presentation skills through a series of class lectures, tasks, team/group work and self-directed study. Emphasis is placed on research and study skills, where learners are acquiring source material and knowledge independently.
Additional Information:In this module students will underpin all their other practical studies by gaining a knowledge of the context and history of art and design through examining the works of a wide range of artists and designers. This will encourage cultural awareness and also the development of research skills- both of which will enhance their other practice-based modules.
