Aims

To introduce students to the history, development and nature of the English legal system To introduce students to sources and types of law To explore the nature and function of key legal personnel within the English legal system To examine the interaction between law and morality to assist students in developing an appreciation of the role of law To create a basic appreciation of the legal reasoning and techniques needed for legal studies

Outline Syllabus:Legal history of the origins of the legal system, legal personal, institutional structures and substantive areas of law The current court structures Key legal personnel including the judiciary Types of law Sources of Law Law and morality Legal reasoning Case law technique Statutory interpretation
