Aims
This module aims to critically assess international construction law frameworks, with a focus on recent developments and patterns, looking to future environmental regulation in the build environment. In a time when the design of the built environment plays such a vital role in achieving equitable and sustainable consumption, it is, imperative students critically examine how carbon emissions can be influenced. In order to sustain humankind through the era dubbed as the ‘climate change crisis’, the need to design buildings and cities with sustainable and equitable carbon footprints has never been greater.
Learning Outcomes

Examine the advancement of international legislation pertaining to construction law frameworks
2.
Critically appraise the development of common law, liability and possible remedies in the construction sector
3.
Critically evaluate penalties and their enforcement
4.
Compose resolutions for complex legal issues relating to sustainability in the built environment
