Aims

This module aims to provide students with an understanding of contemporary risk management and stress testing for financial services organisations, including cyber risk and regulatory drivers. The 2007/08 ‘financial crisis’, was an example of poor portfolio risk management, and a key milestone in generating changes seen in industry today. Disproportionate risk taking by leading banks, insufficient transparency, failure of financial regulation and subprime lending, were all noted in their accumulative contribution to the resultant financial collapse. This lead to demand for change in financial regulation. As a direct result, the industry has, and continues to witness significant shifts in financial services risk management.
