Aims
The course examines the representation of the athlete or player
Learning Outcomes
1.
Identify and prioritise source materials needed for a clear and proper understanding of the subject
2.
Demonstrate a critical awareness of the factors which currently shape the law relating to representing the athlete/player
3.
Flexibly and creatively apply knowledge of practices within the law relating to representing the athlete/player
4.
Undertake analysis of issues at the forefront of the law relating to representing the athlete/player, and the ability to apply it critically in a variety of contexts

Outline Syllabus:1. Practical and Legal Considerations in Advising Players in Professional Team Sports and Athletes in Olympic Sports.
2. The Professional Player
• Player registration and transfer systems
• The player contract
• Players image rights
• Taxation issues
• Regulation of players
• Regulation of agents
3. Athlete in Olympic Sports
• Team selection and EU law considerations
• Team member agreements
