Aims
This module aims to provide students with an understanding of contemporary data protection developments related to the financial services industry. This includes the fundamentals of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Students will scrutinise the practical application of law, by assessing practices such as disclosure of client and employee information to regulators both nationally and internationally.
Learning Outcomes

Analyse, in detail, the eight principles of the Data Protection Act 2018

Evaluate the role and scope of the financial service regulators
3.
Critically appraise practices pertaining to the collection and utilisation of sensitive personal data in the international financial services industry
4.
Review contemporary case studies and emerging case law applicable to data protection in financial services.

Outline Syllabus:By completing this module, students are expected to cover the indicative content as follows:
