Aims
Output 3: Fine Art Influence and application in Architecture
To explore through lectures and seminars issues relating to the influence and integration of fine art theories and practices upon architectural concepts.
Output 2: Specialist Study Topic and research methods
To select through discussion and seminars an appropriate subject for detailed exploration in the Specialist Study module 7512ARSRI. To establish an appropriate research methodology and literature review as part of the background scoping for the Specialist Study.
Output 1: Conservation & Heritage Theory
To engage in the comprehensive appraisal and analysis of a number of Conservation & Heritage case studies. Utilising appropriate precedents to inform the theoretical basis of the Design for Heritage & Conservation project in module 7522ARSRI.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Output 1: Fine Art influence and application in architecture
A series of lectures examining seminal international art movements illustrating how these have impacted upon the theory, history and technology of architectural thought.
Output 2: Specialist Study Proposal & Research proposals
The opportunity for identification of a focussed topic within the field of architecture and design together with production of a literature review and identification of an appropriate methodology for primary and secondary research.
Output 3: Conservation & Heritage Theory
A series of lectures and seminars exploring issues affecting the form of historic settlements and buildings. The lectures will cover examples and precedents, exploring best practice and approaches to the conservation and adaptive reuse historic sites and buildings.
