Aims
1. To enable students to develop the skills necessary to plan and execute a research project that is relevant to their area of study.
2. To effectively communicate research outcomes to an appropriate audience.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Synthesise material from various sources in order to identify, define and defend an appropriate research question.
2.
Apply methodological rigour in the use of appropriate methods and techniques for
problem analysis and investigation.
3.
Critically evaluate the implications of research findings.
4.
Communicate research findings using agreed standards of convention.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:This module is primarily undertaken by the student in the form of secondary data
research, secondary data analysis and project write-up. However, students are
encouraged to maintain regular contact with their supervisor.
Systematic reviews, including synthesis of both quantitative and qualitative research.
How to search and critique the literature.
Additional Information:This module will enable students to plan and execute a literature based research project that is relevant to their area of study, and to effectively communicate their research outcomes to an appropriate audience.
