Aims
In this module students combine skills and techniques used in Critical Perspectives and Executive Effectiveness with specific learning on the use of facilitation to create dialogue in contexts that give rise to controversy and conflict.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Synthesise reflective practice, research informed decision making and executive effectiveness in a public engagement project.
2.
Demonstrate an advanced ability to design discussion activities that synthesise both maieutic and agonism in the development of constructive dialogue.
3.
Demonstrate an advanced ability to utilise their skills as a facilitator to increase the transformational impact of a discussion-based engagement event.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:In the first phase of the project students engage in an intensive workshop process exploring discussion-based facilitation skills including the application of maieutic, problem solving pedagogy and agonism. This is followed by a period of work-based learning and reflection leading to a practical performance as the final assessment.
