Aims

To provide opportunities for professionals in education to expand their knowledge and understanding through learning based on engagement with current educational theory, research, policy and practice in relation to an identified current issue in education To develop participants' critical professional practice through analysis of, reflection on, and engagement with, this knowledge and understanding in their professional setting To support professionals to develop professionally and personally through engagement with the module

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:This module centres on a critical examination of current issues in education from the perspective of the critical, reflective professional. A major current issue is identified for critical examination of the nature of policy and policy implementation on professional practice. Participants will work to develop a critique of the identified area of interest. They will: - Identify an aspect of their practice they wish to investigate and develop - In consultation with their tutor, identify related literature, drawing on this to analyse key issues - Examine/reflect on professional practice in the light of the critique of literature/research/policy
Additional Information:This module is delivered as part of a fully Online Programme. It will provide a grounding in theory and research for educational professionals with an interest in developing a aspect around a current issue in education. The assessment will be a critical analysis of a current/recent issue and responses. This must make reference to relevant practice frameworks and theories.
