Aims
1. To enable students to explore ideas and intentions through commencing an MFA project, effectively testing appropriate research methods, approaches and media, and informed by an understanding and application of contemporary theories and practices.
2. Group dialogues and critiques provide a forum for undertaking, questioning and presenting research, and for sustained analysis, critical reflection and evaluation at a developmental stage
Learning Outcomes
1.
Utilise a range of research methods and integrated practical and/or critical research skills to independently further develop their project within an interdisciplinary context
2.
Begin to realise intentions individually and/or collaboratively in preparation for a coherently conceived project to be disseminated in Module 7505MFATIN
3.
Present provisional outcomes through critically considered and speculative strategies for presentation
4.
Test a clear conceptual, contextual and critical framework for the project informed by interdisciplinary perspectives and critically engaged practices
5.
Critically reflect upon and evaluate practice against negotiated aims and objectives at a formative stage of the project.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:In this independent study module, which builds on practice and research undertaken in Module 7502MFATIN, the syllabus content is determined by each participant in negotiation with advisors and with reference to the revised project proposal from Module 7503MFATIN. Presentations, critiques, and advisor meetings provide a critical forum and testing ground through dialogues and debates about ideas, issues, research strategies, presentation and work in progress. Students use critical feedback, analysis and self-evaluation to develop practice and texts. Networks for the exchange of ideas, information, sources and resources will be established by the participating students and staff, and through the research foci of the members.
