Aims
The aim of the module is to allow students to identify professional development needs and propose and undertake a piece of practice which addresses those needs, allows for an evaluation of progress and simultaneously investigates research questions which will inform their personal and professional development and have the potential to make a positive contribution to the development of industry practices. The module will examine the methodologies for addressing the questions identified and conduct research and evaluate findings.
Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate your own professional practice within the context of the work of other relevant practitioners and current industry practice.

Propose and defend a complex creative research project which addresses professional development needs.
3.
Practise specialist skills in the process of costume making and related techniques.
4.
Gather and critically interpret evidence to create complex documentation that critically records working processes and progress.
5.
Devise complex project management approaches and, where appropriate, develop mature relationships with partners.
6.
Devise a sophisticated practice research methodology.
7.
Present sophisticated arguments in support of your practice and reach complex conclusions.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The module will consider critical ideas and public policy and their relationship to the individual practices of the students. Students will be asked to undertake self-reflection and career analysis and determine key questions that will inform their development and understanding of their craft. A range of practice research and other research methodologies will be considered and the design of research will be investigated before student propose approaches to the investigations within their final practice project.
The module then provides the opportunity for a student to propose and deliver a creative practice project which addresses professional priorities identified through careful self-reflection and critical analysis. The project is individually supervised.
