Aims

To develop and test students’ ability to prepare a dissertation based on a study in appropriate depth, of a subject of some significance in relation to their own discipline within the e-business technology and management.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Critically formulate a research question/problem and devise an appropriate methodology of investigation.
2.
Critically analyse, interpret and present appropriate data in relation to the chosen research question/problem.
3.
Synthesize findings and draw conclusions around the research question/problem.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:The dissertation will normally comprise 15,000 words (in design based topics that include a substantial drawn element that figure may be reduced) and will contain a careful explanation of the research question/problem; a review of the relevant literature; an explanation of the research methodology; descriptions, analysis and synthesis of carefully prepared evidence. This evidence will include both the selection and evaluation of relevant published material, together with some gathering of evidence from primary sources. The syllabus for this module includes seminars on the following topics: A critical overview of the dissertation process at Masters' level. Expectations regarding research design and implementation. Conducting a literature search and critical review at Masters level. Data collection and data analysis using techniques and software appropriate for a Masters' dissertation. Ethics and data protection. During the period of dissertation preparation students are advised to keep in regular contact with their supervisor.
