Aims

The aim of this module is to meet the clinical competencies set out by the RCCP (Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists). To ensure patient safety it is the responsibility of accredited programmes to ensure that students are assessed against the three CEP-CAP’s (Clinical Exercise Physiology - Clinical Assessment of Competencies). Each student is required to meet expectations for each component. There can be more than one attempt to pass each CEP-CAP but failure to pass each CEP-CAP will preclude the student from being eligible to be a graduate RCCP registrant.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Demonstrate competencies related to Professional Practice
2.
Demonstrate competencies related to Practical/Procedural skills
3.
Demonstrate competencies related to Exercise Prescription and Delivery

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:
Clinical Exercise Physiology - Clinical Assessment of Competencies. To be assessed by the end of Trimester 3. There is the inclusion of a Clinical Exercise practice-based logbook. This is updated throughout the academic year. Each student must (i) complete the CEP practice-based log-book outlining the required practice based hours during the degree course (Appendix A of CEP Curriculum Framework) and (ii) pass the 3 individual CEP-CAP (Appendix B for CEP Curriculum Framework). Both documents require appropriate sign off (ideally from a RCCP registered CEP who is part of the University programme team or placement supervisor) to be eligible for RCCP graduate registration.
Module Overview:
This module is solely for assessment and is based on clinical competencies. We are currently applying for accreditation with The Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP). Once this has been achieved, if you pass this module alongside all of the other MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology modules, you can automatically apply for RCCP registration.
Additional Information:
To ensure patient safety it is the responsibility of accredited programmes to ensure that students are assessed the three CEPCAP’s. Each student is required to meet expectations for each component. There can be more than one attempt to pass each CEPCAP but failure to pass each CEP-CAP will preclude the student from being eligible to be a graduate RCCP registrant.
