Aims
1. To introduce the basics of International Maritime Law.
2. To develop a critical understanding of commercial maritime issues.
3. To consider the adequacy of the current legal structure of the modern maritime contract.
4. To appreciate and critically assess contemporary issues surrounding the commercial vessel in law.
5. To consider the adequacy of the published material in Maritime Law.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically evaluate, analyse and assess the nature of the legal framework, structure and regulation impacting on Maritime actors.
2.
Develop an in depth knowledge and understanding which is sufficient to critically evaluate key issues and current developments in the area of Maritime Law.
3.
Demonstrate conceptual understanding and evidence critical evaluation, current research and advanced scholarship in the areas of International Commercial Maritime Law.
4.
Develop an ability to exercise initiative when faced with novel and/or complex problem situations
5.
Demonstrate the capacity to work independently and to professional standards and display high order skills in legal research and writing.
