Aims
To provide an insight into the principles of logistics and supply chain management with particular reference to its application in the global business environment.
Learning Outcomes

Develop a critical awareness of logistics and supply chain management holistically and in terms of their component parts

Analyse a range of management models within the global logistics environment

Appraise the interaction between global logistics and supply chain management and the international trade market

Critically analyse current developments in logistics and supply chain management and their impact

Outline Syllabus:Introduction to logistics and supply chain management - Distribution channels and their management, logistics network planning
Globalisation - The integration of logistics systems into the global trading market Outsourcing - An evaluation of the roles of intermediaries in international logistics market
Customer service implications - The driving forces behind global logistics from the perspective of customers for the services provided.
Inventory management and lean and agile logistics - An overview of these concepts – and the related discipline of just-in-time – including an appraisal of effective management in a complex international situation.
Beer Game
Benchmarking - An examination of best practice in logistics management, including case studies into some of the world's leading exponents
Logistics and supply chain risk management – An overview of risks management in logistics and supply chain management, some common methods for risk assessment Modelling logistics flow and supply chain operations covering product cost, sales, and profit
Global supply chain modelling, simulation, sensitivities, quantitative analysis and supply chain performance appraisal
Green/Sustainable Logistics and SCM
