Aims
This module will enable students to respond to drivers from the contemporary policy context to master the challenges in the management , leadership, development and sustainability of children's community nursing services.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Systematically analyse and evaluate the policy context responsible for shaping contemporary Community Children's Nursing Services.
2.
Critically explore and evaluate the process for collaborative service development, including engagement with stakeholders
3.
Systematically analyse current community service provision for children’ and young people and demonstrate mastery in understanding the challenges faced by future service development.
4.
Demonstrate competence in relation to the professional standards of practice for the role
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Contemporary Policy context
National Framework for Children and Young People’s Continuing Care
Assessment, submission and appeals of CYPCC cases
Clinical governance/risk management within CCN
Commissioning groups/business planning
Care of the ventilated child within the community
Role of the Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner/Community Matron/Palliative Care
Reflect on service user involvement and feedback
Collaboration with key stakeholders and commissioners
Clinical supervision / reflective practice
User involvement in the development of services - feedback and evaluation of established services
Improving health outcomes for vulnerable groups
Analysing reflective skills for practice
Module Overview:
The focus of the module is on the future development and sustainability of children's community nursing services. This will enable students to become proficient, effective change agents and equip them to develop community children's nursing services of the future and meet the diverse needs of children and young people.
During the module, you will examine the key policy drivers responsible for shaping the future of community children's nursing, along with how challenges can be overcome and thinking outside of the box to identify innovative ways to meet future requirements will be explored.
You will be encouraged to think at a strategic level about the development and organisation of children's services. This will involve both operational and management issues as well as working with key stakeholders to implement a vision for children's community nursing services. The Practice Evidence Tool must be completed and passed by the end of this module.
You will undertake this module if you already hold a V150/300 qualification, otherwise you will undertake the version of the module with V100 Nurse Prescribing as detailed below.
