Aims

1. To provide students with the opportunity to examine contemporary issues within the broader context of international law discourse. 2. To provide students with an understanding of, and the ability to critically analyse, key themes of democracy, the rule of law, and human rights within domestic and international law. 3. To provide students with the opportunity to appreciate the relationship between key theoretical concepts studied in the module.

Learning Outcomes

Discuss in general terms the theory of democracy and its development in international law.
2.
Analyse these developments both in terms of doctrine and practice.
3.
Present critical and well-informed argument relating to the interpretation of relevant sources.
4.
Scrutinise and evaluate the relevance of historical and contemporary sources that are key to the development of democracy and human rights in international law.
