Aims

The aim of the module is to introduce students to different perspectives that relate to policing and provide an opportunity to critically explore the range of regulatory processes, professional values and ethics which inform practice thereby providing an insight into current policing, community safety and criminal justice priorities

Learning Outcomes

Analyse historical events that have shaped policing
2.
Interpret key theoretical, philosophical, political, legislative, organisational, policy and practice frameworks in a variety of settings
3.
Evaluate the effectiveness of practice in the field and be able to identify barriers to effectiveness and strategies to overcome these
4.
Reflect on their own practice taking account of their studies and formulate an action plan for personal development
