Aims

Advance the intellectual development of students through the application of rigorous analysis to approach issues related to the taught part of the course. Promote in-depth knowledge of particular topics within the range of subjects taught. Encourage, through the writing of the dissertation, a range of transferable subject-specific and core skills that will be of value to students in future research and in their professional careers in industry.

Learning Outcomes

Apply analytical skills in a rigorous and in-depth manner.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:There is no specific syllabus; however, the following items should be addressed during the programme of study: Selection of project and rationale for choice: identification of project objectives and programme, planning and scheduling of project tasks, relationship with previous research in subject area. Project progress: adherence to schedule liaison with nominated supervisors. Presentation: preparation and submission of a bound dissertation of approximately 15,000 words.
Additional Information:This module accounts for 60 credits out of a full MSc programme of 180 credits. A substantial dissertation is written and submitted for examination. In this module, the knowledge learning outcomes are K1, K2, K3, K4 the skills learning outcomes are S1, S2, S4, S5 and the behaviours learning outcomes are B1, B2, B3 and B4.
