Aims
To develop advanced knowledge and critical understanding of specific issues relating to the principles and practice of criminal justice in England and Wales.
To develop advanced and critical awareness of social issues which have an impact on the operation of criminal justice in England and Wales.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Show advanced and theoretically-informed recognition of the roles of various individuals and agencies within the criminal justice process in England and Wales, and how they relate to the criminal justice process as a whole.
2.
Critically evaluate issues or problems relating to contemporary criminal justice in England and Wales by applying relevant criminological and sociological theory to practice at an advanced level.
3.
Display mastery of a complex and specialised area of knowledge and skill within the criminal justice process in England and Wales, in the form of an evaluative proposal for reform of part of that process
4.
Work effectively in groups, by developing appropriate delegation and cooperation skills which are transferrable into the workplace
5.
Develop employability skills through obtaining advanced knowledge of criminal justice careers, and applying advanced and theoretically-informed knowledge of criminal justice theory and practice to real-life criminal justice issues

Additional Information:This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to critically analyse key issues in contemporary criminal justice at an advanced level. Students will have the opportunity to undertake independent study of specific issues within criminal justice, reflect upon feedback from presentation of their findings, and build that formative feedback into their written assessment.
