Aims

To develop advanced knowledge and critical understanding of specific issues relating to the principles and practice of criminal justice in England and Wales. To develop advanced and critical awareness of social issues which have an impact on the operation of criminal justice in England and Wales.

Outline Syllabus:Introduction to the Course: Building a Theoretical Toolkit and Exploring Models of Criminal Justice Criminal justice at a 'price' Crime and globalisation: beyond our criminal justice system Contemporary issues in policing Contemporary issues in court policy and practice Contemporary issues in probation, community justice and rehabilitation Contemporary issues in prisons Contemporary issues in youth justice The public, crime and justice 'Dragon's Den' assessed presentations
Module Overview:
This module aims to provide you with the opportunity to critically analyse key issues in contemporary criminal justice at an advanced level. It helps you develop advanced knowledge and critical understanding of specific issues relating to the principles and practice of criminal justice in England and Wales.
Additional Information:This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to critically analyse key issues in contemporary criminal justice at an advanced level. Students will have the opportunity to undertake independent study of specific issues within criminal justice, reflect upon feedback from presentation of their findings, and build that formative feedback into their written assessment.
