Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Research Project is broken down into stages, each of which develops skills that will help students to write their dissertation/conduct their project. Stage 1 introduces students to independent research, assisting students in choosing a research question and developing the skills needed to begin an extended research project. In stage 2 students outline their own research project and discussing the ethical implications of research. In stage 3 students will look in detail at literature reviews and methodologies and how they can be used to further understanding of the research topic. The final stage of the module is designed to help students through the writing up stage. It encourages students to revisit the research question and brings together all the skills learnt on the previous stages. The module provides an open forum for students to discuss their work with peers.
Additional Information:The module provides the students with the opportunity to undertake and complete a sustained research project (approximately 8,000 words or 15,000 words depending on the route you are taking) on a topic agreed with your supervisor. Building on advanced skills in practice, research and scholarship assessed at Certificate and Diploma modules, students will identify, research, and organise a significant piece of scholarly writing or undertake a practical project. Both options are undertaken with the support and advice provided through general, small-group, and tutorial meetings.
