Aims

to adopt a systematic approach to searching and utilising literature to explore approaches to evidence synthesis to develop skills required for critical appraisal of literature or evidence

Outline Syllabus:Evidence based practice and beyond Introduction to critical appraisal. The theories of critical appraisal. Developing a research question (PICO) The process of searching and utilising evidence. Conducting a systematic literature search Reference management and screening Measuring quality within research. (CASP/DARE) Data extraction and introduction to evidence synthesis - Meta-analysis and methods for combining quantitative evidence - Exploring other methods of evidence synthesis
