Aims
To enhance the students theoretical knowledge of Advanced Healthcare practice
Learning Outcomes
1.
Clearly articulate the strengths and benefits of advanced practice to the patient/client, the professionals and the organisation
2.
Critically appraise the skills and knowledge required by the Advanced Practitioner in relation to the population they serve
3.
Critically evaluate strategies used to influence and evaluate change in practice in light of legal, ethical and professional guidelines and other available evidence.
4.
Critically evaluate Advanced Practice competency frameworks.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:The role, scope and preparation of the Advanced Practitioner. Professional judgement and decision making. Enhancing ethical reasoning. Competency frameworks. Professional regulation. Measuring the impact of advanced practice on patient care and service delivery. Legal issues in advanced practice. Collaborative practice.
Additional Information:This module has been developed to complement the advanced practice pathway. It provides the student with the opportunity to debate the issues surrounding the advanced practice agenda.
1.The module learning outcomes and relevant subject benchmark statements are in line with the QAA framework for higher education qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The module is aligned to the Level 7 descriptors for a Level 7 Higher Education Qualification.
2.The module is delivered over one semester. September and January intakes
3.The criteria for admission to the module is that candidates are currently working as a registered professional in a relevant area of practice. Ideally candidates will have studied at degree (level 6) however if this is not the case the applicants skills and professional experience will be discussed to allow the module leader to assess capability to study at level 7.
4.The final award is a Continuing Professional Development -Advanced Health Care Practice.
5.The students have access to the Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas) and the University's other range of electronic support such as access to the electronic library facilities. The students also have access to the module leader through phone contact, emails and face to face meetings. A module guide is also provided to identify the wider range of support available.
6.The programme is assessed and run in line with the Academic Framework.

7 Attendance is required throughout the module and will be monitored as required by HEE.
