Aims
The module will see students reviewing national and international evidence to support the appropriate policy and tactical recommendations to better improve investigative practice and the prevention of crime. The module will allow students to evaluate how crime is tackled and assess how their learning can identify opportunities to recommend changes to better safeguard victims. The module allows the student to demonstrate their learning in delivering clear and concise recommendations.
Learning Outcomes

Choose the appropriate evaluation criteria to demonstrate the impact of an operational policing intervention to reduce crime.
2.
Select, gather and interpret the information and data collected to facilitate the effective evaluation of the policing intervention against the stated aims.
3.
Critically evaluate all inputs into the policing intervention and demonstrate the outcomes achieved.
4.
Clearly and concisely communicate the impact that the policing intervention achieved internally and externally.
5.
Assess the implications of operational evaluation and evidence led policing for future crime investigation and propose new solutions.
6.
Critically evaluate how the investigation of crime can benefit from an evidence-led approach.
Module Content

Additional Information:
Lectures will provide the students with information and theories. Students will utilise their learning to deliver an evaluation of a policing intervention to reduce crime. Students will evaluate the evidence of what worked and then critically research the evidence-based practice and collaborative effort to make a policy recommendation around crime investigation or offender management.
This module outline must be read in conjunction with the module appendix and mapping spreadsheet which details the National Policing Curriculum content areas, learning outcomes and minimum content relating to each of the module learning outcomes, which can be found on the Module Key Information tab on Canvas.
