Aims

To provide a thorough understanding of the complexities of transportation and logistics systems with particular focus on different transport modes and inter-model transport.

Learning Outcomes

Critically assess the relative suitability of various transport modes.

Determine appropriate strategies for warehousing and transport terminals.

Formulate and critically evaluate inter-modal transport solutions.

Additional Information:This module will develop the students’ understanding of logistics and transportation systems. It forms an integral part of the Operations and Supply Chain Management pathway and builds on concepts introduced in the Level 5 modules in this pathway. It will enable students to assess different transport modes and to propose appropriate capacity planning and control approaches.
