Aims
To instil students with an understanding and appreciation of the processes involved to develop a design emerging from module 6121IDSRI in terms of spatiality, materiality and environmental integration clearly exhibited through models, diagrams drawings and reports such that it clearly exhibited as appropriate for the purpose that it was intended.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Interpret and integrate the needs and aspirations of existing and proposed building users within a design proposal.
2.
Create and present an interior design project that assimilates a concept using a range of media to include digital and physical model-making and in response to a brief.
3.
Creatively synthesise art, cultural, environmental or other work to an interior design project, in terms of its spatial resolution and representation.
4.
Appraise and synthesise constructional and structural, environmental strategies and regulatory requirements that apply to a design project in an appropriate response to a brief for client and user aspirations and needs, the local context and site.
5.
Evaluate relevant technical strategies including sustainable design, environmental strategies and regulatory requirements and integrate the most appropriate into an interior design project.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:This module will encourage students to explore the detailed spatial design and technical realisation of the outline design proposals developed in module 6121IDSRI.
Additional Information:This module will further develop students’ appreciation of the importance of researching, understanding and interpreting spatiality, materiality and environmental design. Studies of relevant history and theories, technology and materiality will underpin the module. Presentation of design developments will take the form of models, drawings and other creative media, and will be presented in exhibition and portfolio format.
