Aims
To understand how supply chain strategic objectives can be achieved through the consideration of the economic, environmental and social aspects in the decision-making process.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically assess the importance and implications of the triple bottom line perspective (i.e. economic, ecological and societal outcomes) to supply chain strategy development.
2.
Awareness of key standards and best practice that foster sustainable supply chain processes (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, and Return).
3.
Demonstrate expertise of the key considerations in sustainable sourcing with regard to supplier selection, contracts, and performance measurement and evaluation.
4.
Critically evaluate how contemporary issues (such as ethics, green technology and other indicators of desired behaviour) drive supply chains beyond mere compliance with standards to a more committed approach to achieving sustainability.
5.
Analyse and design a working sustainable supply chain strategy, supported by technology.

• Sustainable sourcing and procurement (supplier assessment and development)
• Contemporary Issues in sustainability
• Supply Chain Management in a Circular Economy
• Supply chain strategy – lean, agile and leagile
Additional Information:This module will develop the students’ understanding of key concepts, theories and principles of sustainable supply chain, as part of the core modules taken in Level 4. Students will engage with wide-ranging issues and ideas relating to sustainability, and how they apply to supply chain management processes such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return, and all other critical value chain activities.
