Aims

The aims of this module are to introduce students to the principles and concepts of risk and to assess current drivers of risk in order to equip them with an appropriate framework for supporting an organisation in strengthening its resilience at an operational and strategic level to face current, emerging and future risk. Students will explore the impact of the business environment on risk and examine issues relevant to specific sectors and geographical areas, as well as the needs and demands of various stakeholder groups including regulatory authorities.

Learning Outcomes

Exam and explain the origins, principles and key concepts relating to risk management.

Critically evaluate the impact of the wider business environment on organisations and the issues that this raises for risk management in specific and geographical as well as the needs and demands of various stakeholder groups including regulatory authorities.
3.
Diagnostically assess the main tools, techniques, models and frameworks for understanding current, emerging and future risks.
4.
Critically analyse a case study in order to provide recommendations to help an organisation increase its resilience at an operational level
