Aims
To enable the learner to develop comprehensive knowledge and understanding of health assessment from multi-professional and interagency perspectives across health and social care domains.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Demonstrate systematic assessment to achieve holistic patient care.
2.
Identify the principles underlying theoretical assessment frameworks and use a range of assessment methods to inform the decision making process
3.
Critically discuss collaborative working to ensure optimum patient care.
4.
Demonstrate effective skills with confidence in clinical evaluation to improve the delivery of comprehensive nursing care for adult patients.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Role of the nurse in health assessment. The interview and health history. The physical examination
Validating and documenting collected data. Critical thinking to analyse data and make nursing judgments /diagnosis
Standards formats for assessment of the status of the health of individual. Bio psychosocial aspect of the health of the individual. Holistic assessment, including pain, mental status, vital signs, cultural influences. Systematic nursing assessment of body systems.
