Module Content

Outline Syllabus:• One to one lessons One-to-one singing lessons focus on the development of the student’s individual singing style and technique. Tutors will continually assess students’ voice in order to provide a technical programme that will be tailored specifically for individual vocal needs. Students will have the opportunity to explore their vocal potential and put together a repertoire of material suitable for professional auditions. • Group technique – pop/rock vocal style study and repertoire Technique classes will be delivered as a whole group and will require singers to work on different technical aspects of rock, pop and jukebox style musical theatre singing in the context of the class. This will also be an opportunity to build a repertoire of song to populate this part of the professional repertoire. • Song workshop – song presentation focus An opportunity to work on the performance qualities of songs in the repertoire to receive peer, teacher, and guest teacher feedback on the overall performance. • Audition technique and repertoire preparation An in-depth class exploring the technicalities of the singing auditions for musical theatre, and perfecting audition presentation. This class will address dealing with the audition pianist, how to address the panel, how to prepare audition cuts of songs, how to present sheet music, how to deal with audition nerves, what to expect throughout the recall process, learning stock audition material and many other aspects. • Swing training This class will prepare students for the skills required to be a swing in musical theatre productions. They will learn how to prepare a swing book, how to learn many tracks, both in terms of choreography and vocal harmony lines, and be required to demonstrate their ability to put this into practise without notice in a mock audition format.
