Aims
To provide relevant, stimulating and career-orientated experiential learning; To encourage students to develop transferable skills relevant to the work environment; To foster initiative and independence of thought.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Identify and describe the working practices in a selected professional environment.
2.
Recognise how an organisation achieves its aims with reference to the structure of internal management and the definition of staff responsibilities.
3.
Define the economic/environmental context within which an
organisation operates.
4.
Acquire the skills and knowledge required to complete designated work
related tasks and activities.
5.
Reflect on and evaluate experiential learning with respect to personal development, and the curriculum of their programme of study.
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Approximately 135 hours placement during the course of an academic year.
10 hours reinforcement and supportive learning activity within the University.
A detailed specification of the programme for each work placement which will be included in a negotiated learning agreement. This learning agreement will identify a relevant empirical project to fulfil individual programme requirements.

Additional Information:This module provides the opportunity to apply concepts acquired during a programme of study to the work environment. The student will gain an understanding of the economic/environmental context of the placement and will acquire skills to perform tasks designated by the placement provider.
