Aims

To refine students' knowledge and understanding of key mathematical concepts and pedagogy associated with teaching the subject across the primary age range. To extend students' understanding of key issues in primary mathematics education and allow them to critically evaluate current research in this area to inform their own practice. To be able to analyse and interpret local and national data to support mathematical learning.

Learning Outcomes

Critically evaluate the extent to which research in mathematics education informs practice in the primary classroom.

Critically reflect upon what constitute effective strategies for the learning and teaching and assessment of mathematics.
3.
Critically analyse and evaluate national and local data to support learning, teaching and assessment in mathematics across the primary age and ability range.

Module Overview:
This module will refine your knowledge and understanding of key mathematical concepts and teaching associated with the subject across the primary age range. It will extend your understanding of key issues in primary mathematics education and will allow you to critically evaluate current research in this area to inform your own practice.
Additional Information:This module extends students' subject knowledge and pedagogical repertoire for the teaching of mathematics across the primary age phases and ability range.
