Aims
To enable experienced children's nurses to develop the ability to transfer their existing skills and knowledge in order to provide safe, evidence-based, risk-managed, holistic nursing care to children, young people and their families within the community context. In particular this will include children with acute and short-term conditions; children with long term conditions ; children with disabilities and complex conditions including those requiring continuing care and neonates and children with life-limiting illness, including those requiring palliative and end of life care.

Module Overview:

To enable experienced children's nurses to develop the ability to transfer their existing skills and knowledge in order to provide safe, evidence-based, risk-managed, holistic nursing care to children, young people and their families within the community context.
Additional Information:This course will encourage students to combine their theoretical and practice-based learning to enable them to work towards improving the experiences of children, young people and their families where they have specific care needs across integrated pathways of services , including primary, secondary and in some cases tertiary care.
They will be supported to achieve throughout this challenging learning journey through a robust partnership between academic staff, practice teachers and mentors.
