Aims
To enable community specialist practitioner students to maximise learning opportunities and experiences relevant to their own area of work in order to facilitate practice, career and professional development
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically appraise the current research in the selected area of study with relevance to specialist community practice
2.
Reflect on personal knowledge and understanding of the subject area, to enable the development of higher levels of understanding and skill in community nursing practice
3.
Display competence within the selected area of negotiated study with due consideration of the statutory requirements for specialist community practice
4.
Demonstrate evidence of dissemination of the area of study to peers locally, regionally or nationally within the context of specialist community practice
Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Negotiation within a tripartite relationship of supported learning, with a focus on evidence based practice developments within the context of the professional standards that support specialist practice for community specialist practice.
Generic professional and academic skills will include:
Self-awareness, self-assessment, reflection, negotiation, partnership working, academic writing supported by contemporary literature, e-learning and dissemination of personal and practice based developments
Module Overview:
To enable community specialist practitioner students to maximise learning opportunities and experiences relevant to their own area of work in order to facilitate practice, career and professional developmentThe selected area of study will be identified by the student, practice teacher/mentor and the module leader as part of personal development planning to meet the standards for community specialist practice (NMC 2001) and the voluntary standards for District Nursing (QNI 2016), where appropriate. There will be a focus on practice development for service delivery. The module learning outcomes and relevant subject benchmarks statements are in line with the QAA framework for higher education qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The module is aligned to the level 6 descriptors for a level 6 Higher Education Qualification. The module is delivered over a standard year.
