Aims

The module aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop and reflect on their theoretical knowledge and applied practice skills by engaging in a work related learning project. The students will be provided with an opportunity to lead their own learning while drawing on links between theoretical principles and their application in a professional environment.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Critically evaluate the important skills, applied knowledge and evidence base required to work in applied Sport and Exercise Science.
2.
Critically reflect on issues relating to professional practice, accounting for individual differences such as environment and culture.
3.
Apply appropriate sport science knowledge in a work-related context.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Regulatory requirements and quality standards Goals, priorities and methods of the proposed intervention in partnership with the service user Employability and career readiness: Introduction to work related learning; Reflective practice; Professional practice in the workplace; Career planning, Careers Zone 24/7, CVs (plus guest speaker); Health and safety – risk assessing. Subject specific training: e.g. Education, S&C, Nutrition, performance analysis; codes of practice, health and safety and the risk assessment. Note. Guest speakers will be included in as many sessions as possible with additional videos added to Canvas to give a wide overview of the careers available for graduates.
