Aims

The aim of the module is to give students an opportunity to spend time in a workplace environment relevant to their subject discipline; to build links between theory and practice through practical experience of work, reinforcing and complementing formal study; to evaluate critically his/her professional skills and knowledge to identify development needs.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Approximately 140 hours engagement with a workplace environment during the course of an academic year, appropriate to the academic level of study. 10 hours re-enforcement and supportive learning activity within the University. Learning from a work-based experience will be measured and assessed against specific learning outcomes.
Module Overview:
The aim of this module is to provide an opportunity to spend time in a workplace environment relevant to your subject discipline. You will build links between theory and practice through practical experience of work - reinforcing and complementing formal study.
Additional Information:This module provides the opportunity to apply concepts acquired during a programme of study to the work environment. The student will appreciate the economic/environmental context of the placement and will acquire skills to perform tasks designated by the employer. The module guide provides guidance for students and employers involved in the development of work based learning. The module guide will set out the minimum work based learning requirements for students and employers and includes useful documents and templates to support work based learning practice.
