Aims
To explore the literature and research considering the meaning and nature of childhood in the adolescent years.
To consider adolescent child development in the context of society and the legal and ethical systems supporting the care of children.
Learning Outcomes

Critically analyse the principles underpinning government policy relating to the wellbeing of young people both locally and internationally.

Critically evaluate the impact of policy relating to the regulation and promotion of children’s status, welfare and learning in the adolescent phase.

Critically review a range of literature on issues of child development in the adolescent stage.

Additional Information:This module completes the three core studies of child development, focussing on research relating to cognitive and physical development in this phase and the legal and ethical issues in relation to this stage of child development.
