Module Content
Outline Syllabus:Co-morbidity, physiological and psychological vulnerability across the lifespan (epidemiology) applied to health, ill health, disability, ageing and death relating to the individual systems
Advanced pharmacology
Neurological disorders including psychological conditions including psychosis
Alcohol and drug misuse
Advancing systematic history taking/assessment
Undertaking routine investigations and interpreting and sharing findings
Interpreting results from routine investigations and taking relevant action following these
Exploring co-morbidities in patients who have complex care needs, both in the acute and chronically unwell person.
End of life care and associated decision making processes and patient/carer/family involvement
Working in partnership with others to deliver safe, quality and well co-ordinated care
Co-ordination and planning in the safe discharge of patients home and between care settings
Clinical skills
Biophysics, biochemistry and radiology

Advanced Care planning
Advanced medication management
The principles and practice of nurse prescribing and managing psychotropic medication
Medication reduction / cessation plans in serious mental illness

Additional Information:In addition to the contact hours above there are 160 private study hours. 85 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation. Online hours are e-learning.

Please note that workshop hours account for simulated theoretical learning, in accordance with NMC standard 3.4
Students must achieve a 100% pass of the Test element, in accordance with the NMC standard, if this is not passed the student would fail the module overall.
