Aims

Consolidate students engagement with a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support their development as an independent practitioner

Learning Outcomes

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Consolidating practice learning The code and challenging difficult situations CPR, DKA, HHA central lines/PICC line management Advanced COPD and spirometry sepsis, blood gases Oxygen saturations IV devices Assessment of deteriorating mental health patient Psychological care of the acutely unwell patient. Care of the dying patient. Awareness of risk to others incl radicalisation in the care planning process. Awareness of allied agencies and processes in cases involving risk to self or others. Information sharing in relation to risk management. Diagnostic overshadowing Pharmacology in acute care, Dementia/stroke. Pneumonia/chest infections. Communication skills SBAR. Care, compassion and accountability. Advanced care planning. Life limiting illnesses Mental health complexity of care Advanced communication skills Co-ordinating MH Care planning with in cases involving Radicalisation, risk to others. Co-ordinating MH Care planning with allied agencies in cases involving risk to self. Co-ordinating MH Care planning in a multicultural society. Co-ordinating MH care when discharge planning applying the Care Programme Approach and Mental Health ACT Co-ordinating the delivery of MH and physical care
Module Overview:
In this module you will learn a range of values, attitudes and skills that underpin safe and effective clinical practice to support your development as an independent practitioner.
Additional Information:The Academic Assessor will monitor that the student has completed 870 practice hours. This includes any practice placement learning and simulated practice learning, in accordance with the students programme plan. These hours are not included in the total module hours but are noted within the module proforma for university monitoring and progression purposes. In addition to the contact hours above there are 320 private study hours. 170 hours are guided, this includes online and assessment preparation. Online hours are e learning. 150 hours are independent study Please note that workshop hours account for simulated theoretical learning, in accordance with NMC standard 3.4
