Aims
1. Through negotiated work related learning the module aims to develop students practice within a field of their choice and allows them to critically explore the range of regulatory processes, professional values and ethics which inform that practice.
2. Enable students to develop a detailed knowledge of their identified field and through this knowledge build a critical understanding of relevant policy and procedural guidance as it is applied in practice.
3. Enable students to challenge practices through insightful deliberation about current agendas.
Learning Outcomes
1.
Critically evaluate a range of regulatory processes together with professional values which inform practice in their identified field and situate their own work
within it through analysis of appropriate primary material
2.
Hone and apply a particular methodology or approach towards their chosen
material to generate research and an informed critical position
3.
Write a long, research-informed and scholarly essay which accords to high
standards of presentation and referencing and develops an argument

Additional Information:This module provides student’s with the opportunity to explore a topic within a field of their choice that is connected to policing or criminal justice. Where a student has volunteered within an organisation and the research topic relates to that organisation, there may be additional considerations which the module supervision team will need to consider and negotiate.
