Aims

The module prepares the student for the placement activity in semester 2 through 6502SPS. The module aims to develop student's ability to plan, prepare, initiate and reflect upon effective applied sport and exercise psychology practice with a client or service. The module will address topics such as legal requirements of placement/practice, personal conduct, working in effective project teams and some requisite skills for applied sport and exercise psychology practice.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Reflect upon the relevant ethical and professional requirements for undertaking applied practice with a client group/service.
2.
Discuss the knowledge and skills appropriate for the applied sport psychologist.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Core knowledge and skills for the applied practitioner: Understanding placement roles and responsibilities; Reflective Practice; Reflections on practice by early career practitioners; Working effectively as a placement/applied practice team. Safe and inclusive practice: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; Safeguarding. Focus on effective practice: Infographics; Workshops and activities; Case studies, notes, observation and referral.
