Aims

1. Students will synthesise their skills of sports writing, reporting and production to produce journalism artefacts both in groups and individually that match or approach professional standards. 2. They will build on previous multi-media practice working in a converged newsroom environment to develop their creativity and ability to work within a team 3. They will produce an advanced sports journalism project to approach or match professional standards.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Demonstrate proficiency at sports news gathering, sports feature writing and multi-media story telling to a realistic professional deadline.
2.
Demonstrate application of professional sports journalism skills including team-working, idea generation, sports news judgement, research, tenacity in pursuing stories, developing contacts and sports journalism research.
3.
Apply their professional skills to produce an Advanced Sports Journalism Project.

Module Content

Outline Syllabus:Students will work as part of a team to design and create innovative sports media products and develop an individual sports journalism project to a starter-professional standard.
Module Overview:
Within this module, you will be able to synthesise your skills of sports writing, reporting and production to produce journalism artefacts both in groups and individually that match or approach professional standards. You will build on previous multi-media practice working in a converged newsroom environment to develop their creativity and ability to work within a team. Also, you will produce an advanced sports journalism project to approach or match professional standards.
Additional Information:This module builds on previous skills developed at levels 4 and 5 to enable students to apply and evaluate their sports journalism in a real-time work-based learning environment.
